Bold Pick of the Week: M.E.

By , March. 30. 2010 17:16

If you have been to a Starbucks lately, you’ll know that they’ve started an eight week campaign to promote their various bold coffees.  Each week a different bold coffee is featured.  It’s a way for customers to change up their usual pick, and try a new bold one instead.  You might be curious as to how bold coffees relate to my usual blog topics and I’m getting to that, now.

Recently, I signed up for an account with Brazen Career* after hearing about a scholarship opportunity via the National Society of Collegiate Scholars website. (Yes, I have been a very busy body).  Brazen is one more way for me to network with peers and professionals.  According to a quote on the website Brazen is like, “Twitter meets Facebook meets LinkedIn meets Gen Y,” and I definitely agree.  Amongst other features, I have really enjoyed the surge of responses, thoughts and opinions one will receive when they post questions or thoughts in a status-like box.  For instance, I asked for suggestions for blog promotions and received a varying degree of similar responses. They all drove me to this solid conclusion – I need to be much bolder with how I present my blog.  I realized that I have been rather timid in promoting From M.E. to You simply because it is not a “professional-level blog.”  That needs to change.

So if I’m not being bold enough, how is it I am the bold pick of the week? It’s really quite simple.  I am starting my own bold campaign.  I am becoming more aware of the fact that as a marketing student, I have to start with selling my own skills and services.  Just like Starbucks is presenting a new bold coffee to try each week, over the next few weeks I am going to be experimenting with new ways to promote my blog and myself.  I know some methods may be more noticeable or successful than others, but that is all part of the process. In fact, I will be publishing some mini-posts throughout the process to update readers on the success, or lack of success for the promotional methods I do try.  Now, let the campaign begin!
